Emily McCarty grew up in Madrid, Iowa. She graduated cum laude from Simpson College in Indianola, Iowa in 2006. Her Bachelor of Arts degree is in English and history. Emily has also studied in England, Thailand, and Vietnam.
Emily attended Drake University Law School, where she was a staff member of the Drake Law Review. Emily also served as a student attorney with the Drake Legal Clinic in both the Criminal Defense Clinic and Advanced Criminal Trial Clinic. In May 2009, Emily was awarded her J.D. with High Honors. She was admitted to practice law in the State of Iowa in September 2009.
Emily is a member of the National Employment Lawyers Association, the Iowa Employment Lawyers Association, Iowa Association for Justice, Iowa Bar Association, Polk County Bar Association, and Polk County Women Attorneys.
Emily lives in Madrid with her husband Aaron. She enjoys spending time with her family, traveling, canoeing, and antique shopping.
