Victory for Employee Wronged by Illegal Drug Test: $227,500 Awarded After Arbitration

Our client was a dedicated employee of a large Iowa employer until he was fired in late-2020 based on the results of an illegal drug test.  Iowa law has specific rules for when drug tests may be required, and we challenged our client’s firing.  FLF Attorney argued the case through arbitration.  After hearing the evidence, the Arbitrator found the employer’s illegal drug test demand resulted in an inaccurate test result and cost our client his career.  The employer was ordered to pay $133,500 in back pay and $94,000 in front pay.  We’re so excited for our client and are grateful that he trusted us to fight for him.  If you or someone you know has had issues with workplace drug testing, fill out an intake form here.
